Why Do We Have Miniature Schnauzers.......?
As you may have noticed, most of the dogs we have are working dogs. I joke that the Miniature Schnauzer's job is to be
our bed warmers. :) A number of years ago, as our Aussies were getting older, I did hours of research, trying to find a breed
of dog I thought would suit our family well in size, temperament, personality.....and that's when I stumbled upon the Mini
Schnauzers....and I said "That's the breed!" They are a friendly, happy little dog, and they are small, but not
so small that you have to worry about your kids accidently hurting them because they are so fragile (as you can get with some
of the toy breeds). They are also non-shedding, which is a feature I must admit I absolutely LOVE!!!! They are a very affectionate
dog, and each one has a kid that they want to sleep with at night. They house train easily, and are a mostly healthy breed.
As with all the others breeds, I looked for long time, health tested, established breeders of high quality Mini Schnauzers
to purchase ours from....and as the saying goes.....you get what you pay for. High quality puppies have excellent health and
temperament, meet their breed standard perfectly, and are a joy to have around. I should note, if you've never had a Mini
Schnauzer before, when you do your research, the biggest complaint I see about them is their barking. Overall, in our experience,
I would not categorize them as excessive barkers. Yes, they do bark some when you first come home and they're happy to see
you, or when someone knocks at the door....but it's not excessive, and a quick "that's enough" and they settle right
down. I've seen some little dogs (and big dogs) that bark at everything and anything they see....birds, cars, trees, bikes,
and we do not find our Mini's to be that way.
